Let's Talk The Voice South Africa

This show has exceeding expectations, we really have to congratulate the production team for putting together something so amazing, they have got this production game on lock down

But now we have to discuss the talent now that viewers have had to cast their votes for their favourite so let’s look at who we are sad to see go.

Lana Crowster
Everybody brought their A game but unfortunately for Lana who was in #TeamBobby her take of Luaryn Hill’s Doo-woop(That Thing) didn’t bag her enough voters to keep her in the competition

Busiswe Mutlaka
This unpredictable powerhouse has also been booted off the show after her rendition of the Kelly Clarkson classic Because of You. This comes after coach #TeamLira took a very dangerous bet saving who I thought was the weakest in her team Zoe Modiga

Meyrand Roux
I’m shocked that this guy didn’t get enough votes to stay in the completion after the performance of Sixto Rodriguez’s Sugar Man that was excellently executed.  We hate Lira for her save; he was the most deserving in her team.
Nadine Sisam

Beautiful and with an angelic voice we don’t know what one needs to have to stay on the Voice. I have heard many renditions of Sia and David Guetta’s Titanium and so far Nadine’s was top notch but then she’s off the show #sad

SAMA Nominations Unleashed

On Thursday the much anticipated South African Music Awards nominations were released and we gotta say there’s tough competition up in there and it just lays out the standard of our music industry(proud).
Here on SEl&EL we also human which means of course we rooting for certain people like Ricky Rick, Nathi and Black Coffee.

Let’s slaughter a few of the categories and give you our predictions and this time we promise to do a follow up to see how we faired

Here we go:

Album of the Year
Francois van Coke - Francois van Coke
Emtee - Avery
Nathi - Buyelekhaya
Tresor - VII
Black Coffee - Pieces of Me
This is a very tough category, ask us and we’ll tell you there’s only 3 contenders up in here. As much as we’d love Nathi to win this one Black Coffee has been fiery off late.

Female Artist of the Year
Judith Sephuma - One Word
Zahara     - Country Girl
Fifi Cooper - 20Fifi
Karen Zoid - Drown Out the Noise
Zonke - Work of Heart
Ladies stand up, this one’s for you. Like the first category this one is also tough Fifi, Zahara and Karen all had an amazing year last year but something our bones tells that us Karen might just win this year, she sure has put in a lot of work
Image result for karen zoid

Newcomer of the Year
Riky Rick - Family Values
Emtee - Avery
Tresor - VII
Fifi Cooper - 20Fifi
Nathi - Buyelekhaya
It’s super obvious who we rooting for in this category so we just cross our fingers on it

Best Rap Album
Emtee - Avery
Kid X - 3 Quarter Pace
Da L.E.S - North God
Riky Rick - Family Values
Zakwe – Impande
The ish genre in our country right now and we think this battle is just between Emtee and Ricky Rick and we are with Ricky on this one

Best Dance Album
Black Coffee - Pieces of Me
Mi Casa - Home Sweet Home
Mobi Dixon - Tribal Soul Special Edition
DJ Merlon - Original Copy
Junior Taurus & Lady Zamar - Cotton Candy
Generally we are not that crazed about dance music most probably because of our lack of skill in dancing but this is also one of the categories that are keeping us on the edge of our seat. Again Black Coffee is bound to take this one but if fate proves otherwise let it be Mobi Dixon

Best Collaboration
Dbn Nyts ft. Zinhle Ngidi & Trademark - Shumaya
Shekinah x Kyle Deutsch - Back to the Beach
AKA ft. Redsan, Burna Boy & Stoneboy - All Eyes on Me
Major League DJz ft. Cassper Nyovest, Okmalumkoolkat, Riky Rick & Carpo - Sylza Tsotsi
Khuli Chana ft. Patoranking - No Lie
We not going to say much about this one because most of the songs are done and dusted and Shekinah and Kyle’s track is the freshest so they can go ahead and grab this one

Super Couple Shona and Connie Ferguson

The couple has been married for more than 10 years and has brought us amazing TV while at it.
The couple is very quiet about their marriage and their private lives but what they’re not quite about is their creativity s they are pouring it all out for us to see.

Under their belt are shows like The Wild and Rockville and as if those shows aren’t good enough they went on and brought us another one- Igazi.
Igazi follows the story of a Xhosa prince that was sent into hiding for safety by his grandmother after his mother died in a fire (apparently). After nightmares warning him of his biological father’s safety he  learns the truth about who he is and there’s more but just check the show out on Mzansi Magic on Sundays

Shona and Connie is a very powerful and creative couple in terms of entertainment in our country. By creative I mean that they have delivered to us 3 shows that are very different from each other. Firstly The Wild was a very diverse show in terms of characters and showcased different lifestyles within SA. While Rockville showed us how people from the township and those in the burbs intersect and may sometimes depend on each other for survival. And now Igazi show they are no one trick ponies as its set in the Eastern Cape and follows a storyline that is more traditional than the usual

CiCi Missed It

The rejuvenator of 999 Music CiCi real name Busisiwe Edith almost had it all but we think she’s missed it all or she’s slowly getting there
Listen don’t get us wrong we are all for that girl, she’s undeniably an amazing artist but small fake tactics can put people off

Her song ‘Runaway’ is a great song because our female artists don’t make music like that anymore they’re rather dabbing into hip hop (pun intended), she had a perfect market and was not under any sort of pressure, but she still got enough rope to hang herself. When I say she almost had it all I mean the market was for her to take, since the passing of the legendary Lebo Mathosa the country has been in need of a female artist like CiCi who could ignite that spark.

What puts us off is her latest offering where she has pieces of famous American songs in her lyrics.
  • 1.       The “she aint no diva” line from BeyoncΓ©’s Diva
  • 2.       Lady Gaga’s “applause, applause, applause”  line are also in there
  • 3.       The “you gonn’ C-C me” line by Ludacris in Ciara’s Ride

And y’all probably think we’re being too critical about the last point but the bottom line is that it’s been done before.

We really hope she redeems herself in whatever she’s going to put out next; we have so much faith in her

Cassper Nyovest drops song about Boity.

Cassper Nyovest released a song earlier today titled 'Super Ex'. In the song he expressing his feelings about the whole breakup and its his first time talking about it publicly since it happened.

He is sort of giving his side of the story since Boity went to the magazines and told hers. You can almost feel his pain when you're listening to the song.

These are some of the lyrics that we think stood out in this song:

 1. Man I just broke up with my girlfriend/She used to mean the world/Maybe I am just committed to the music, maybe I'm stupid, too much of a cool kid

2. What if she finds another rap and they fall in love with each other and live happily forever/Sometimes I find myself feeling lonely/Thinking what if she really was my soulmate.

3. You ain't really have to go to the papers behind my back and only tell me when the cover came out/Girl, that was whack/But it's cool I'm not trying to highlight all the negatives/Our love was real and I don't want to discredit it

He even goes on firing shots at Amanda du pont. "It's gonna be another hard to move on at least you never cheated like Miss du-Pont."

Boity and Cassper before the split.

Chad da Don Disses Cassper

We have no idea what happened between the two but all we we know is that that Cassper Nyovest took Chad under his wing a while back and gave him a record deal. And now all of a sudden there is beef. Chad da Don was one of the artists in Caspper's label, Family Tree. He has released a diss track for Cassper and the lyrics are really cold. Chad released the diss track about four hours ago, so now we just watching Mr shebeleza's social media pages and patiently waiting for his response.

Khanya Mkhangisa On The Rise

From spoilt Camps Bay brat to controversial love smitten to good girl gone bad. These are just some the character traits Khanya Mkhangisa has brought to life on TV since her YoTV days. One thing that's for sure is that Khanya Mkhangisa has grown into a beautiful woman that's well on her way to success, since being a child star on YoTV Khanya has acted roles on screen smashing shows like Shakespeare In Mzansi: Forced Love, Rockville and Isidingo. Khanya has recently scored herself the co-hosting duties on SABC 1's Selimathunzi alongside Lunga Tshabalala and Vazi after the departure of Zizo Beda. Here's why we love her: Firstly its her role of Nonhle on Shakespeare In Mzansi: Forced Love. The way she executed the role was so perfect for her and so believable. She had the look and the voice of the spoilt brat she played it wasn't as if she was acting it was as if she was getting on with her daily life.

She then came guns blazing on Mzansi Magic's Rockville where she played the role of Nolitha who later renamed herself as Cleopatra, a good girl from the Eastern Cape who went to Jozi to seek employment so she could help her bed ridden mother but the city proved to have had differing plans for her.
She was introduced to prostitution and drugs by Mrs Bogatsu(played by Terry Phetho) and that became the death of Cleopatra. Yet again she aced the role she came out to the city so determined to do good and in just a snap of a finger she became a bad girl with super high confidence and a huge ego to match.

Khanya Mkhangis has moved on though as she now stars in a Monday night drama that will aires on Mzansi Magic called Doubt where she will prove her fiance or husband's innocence in a murder of a stripper and the uncertainty is due to the promo showing her bae being arrested in the middle of the wedding so we don't know if they got say their " I do's" Anyway we still excited to catch this drama to see how Khanya has improved since the last time we saw her on Mzansi Magic. Has she gone good again Catch Doubt on Mzansi Magic at 21:00 on Mondays

Fresh Shows From Mzansi Magic

It's a new quarter of the year and Mzansi Magic has gotten rid of the old and in with the new. Loads of shows are coming our way this quarter thanks to Mzansi Magic. Last week Monday a star studded Greed and Desired premiered and there's lots more to come. Greed and Desire has kicked off the fresh show TV season with some old and new faces. It will air from Monday to Thursday at 19:30 taking the place of The Road.Xoli Zondi is back in Greed and Desire | The Citizen From the 10th of April at 20:00 there will be no Saints and Sinners coz they shut it down with an edge of your seat type of finale and now the spot will be taken by the gripping new Xhosa drama called Igazi. Talents like Vathiswa Ndara, Anga Makhubalo and Zikhona Zodlaka are to show off their skills. Igazi on Mzansi Magic Khanya Mkhangisa will also be back on the 161 in a drama where she is set to prove that her fiance is not a murderer called Doubt which has scored the 21:00 spot on Mondays because Zabalaza has closed off on their last chapter. The fiance is played by Yonda Thomas who was detective Siya Malinga on Saints and Sinners.
Of course we are sad to see our beloved shows go but change in drama is always best, looking at just the casts of these new shows I'm hella' excited

Pearl Thusi: On The King Way

Pearl Thusi & D’Banj to host ‘Lip Sync Battle Africa’ from April ...

Pearl Thusi is now officially the grand female hustler in the land, distributing her yellowsome self on every media platform near you. The song Pearl Thusi by hip hop new kid Emtee hasn't given the waves a break since its release and neither has Pearl. As of the 14th of April you can watch Pearl alongside the kokomaster D'banj hosting the African version of the Lip Sync Battle. Mzansi Magic The Loyal

Mzansi Magic has got to be the most loyal channel in Mzansi. They always give their talent a second chance to prove their worth.
What I mean is that you show your face on one show and the next thing you know you're on another show and now I'm give you about five examples of what I'm talking about.

Remember when Shugasmax was choir master on Clash Of The Choirs season 2? Well he then went on to co-host a show called My Perfect Proposal with Dineo Moekets. Moneoa who was also a choir master on the same season went to star in the Mzansi Magic drama The Road.

Big Brother Mzansi season 1 winner Mandla and fellow housemate/girlfriend Lexi scored themselves a reality show called Mandla And Lexi after Mandla bagged the competition and so did the season 2 winners Ace and Ntombi.
Blue Mbombo who was in the runner-up position with her boo K2 in season 2 of Big Brother Mzansi also got to show herself more on tv as she got herself spot on the Diski Divas reality show for having baed up with a Platinum Stars player back in the day.

See? A little sure does go a long way on Mzansi Magic if you don't believe us yet ask Somizi whose reality show will be airing soon on Mzansi Magic and we suspect being on the judging panel of Idols SA season 11 had something to do with it

Ma-E finally drops his album

After 3 or 4 years Ma-E has dropped his long anticipated album titled Township Counsellor.  The album dropped last week but it was delayed on iTunes and it dropped on Tuesday there. People who prefer buying their music on iTunes must've been pissed though because they had to wait an extra 4 days or so. The rapper explained why the album got delayed.

"Once again sorry for the wait, there was a glitch from our distributor's side but we are here now," Cashtime Life CEO Thabiso Khati told fans on social media on Tuesday evening.

Fans then went on to download the album on iTunes and they have already made it number 1 in the Hip Hop Albums on iTunes.

Well done Mr. Ma-easy-does-it

Ngud' Video Hits 1million views in 1 Month.

For real though guys, lets be honest. This track is nothing but a smash hit. Its so big that it hit 1 million views in Youtube in just one month. Yes that's how much SA loved the song.

Its no surprise because almost everywhere you go you hear it playing. Kwesta took to twitter to thank all the fans for the support.

If you don't understand why its so popular then i think you should check it out yourself.

Gun Shots at Cassper Nyovest's show.

Cassper was performing in Namibia last weekend and the show almost turned into a nightmare. This was when a few gun shots were heard inside the stadium he was performing in. The rapper quickly ducked to save his life.

The incident occurred  soon after the rapper started performing when a fight went down inside the stadium and that's when the gun shots went off. Cassper stopped performing and asked security to handle the situation because he feared  for his life and those of his fans.

After the trouble makers were kicked out of the stadium Cassper went on with the show and picked up where he left off. The rest of the show went smoothly and ended on a good note. Cassper even took this video and it was as if nothing had happend.

Aka brags about his Live amp appearance.

Remember that Live amp show that had Bonang Matheba as co-host and Aka promoting his new single One Time ? Twitter was going crazy and the show trended worldwide. Yes I said  worldwide and Aka wouldn'n let it slide that easily. He's tweeted twice about the milestone.

Yep, On Instagram too.
