SABC 1's Good Old Times

Remember back when SABC 1 was winning? with the best TV shows in the land. Where's all that now?. SABC 1 is the channel that broadcasts shows in english and in nguni languages, it is probably the most watched channel in the land but I have a problem with their quality of work and the shows they've axed in the past. With the channel being probably the most watched maybe it should be the SABC's top priority but instead SABC 3 is slaughtering all of the SABC channels. SABC 1 used to win though.....Back in the day with shows that had the top talent in the country. Remember how Home Affairs used to win, the drama show that depicted different paths of South African women. The show had greats like Vathiswa Ndara who played Miriam, Nthati Moshesh was playing Thandeka and was later replaced Baby Cele and they also had Brenda Ngxoli who played Vuyokazi Ngxaki and Lerato Mvelase who played Katlego. The show was so big that both Brenda and Lerato were semi-finalists at the Emmy awards. Maybe SABC 1 could compete with some of the best channels if they brought that show back.

Talent scouting shows are the ish right now with the SA Idols breaking new grounds into their 12th season coming but the problem is that very few of the winners linger around for long. SABC 1 on the other hand was on a winning streak with talent shows. Remember Class Act the show that exposed the top young actors in the county righ now. I'm talking about the likes of Sdumo Mtshali, Pallance Dladla, Abdul Khoza and Yonda Thomas. Those guys are doing so well that they all ditched SABC for DSTV's Mzansi Magic.

The best retaliation for SABC 1 would be to bring back that show, find and keep their actors and up their quality as well.

They were bragging about having their first billion in the bank last year. Well how about investing in some great television-maybe?
