Top 10 SA Hip hop Richest 2016.

SA Hip Hop was a genre that was mocked by other artists and members of the public about a decade ago because it wasn’t making as much money as it does today. The genre has since grown to be the most famous and most profitable genre in South Africa. A lot of rappers have been cashing in big bucks so we decided to compile a list of Hip Hops top earners:



#10 - Tumi


 Tumi has been the game for over a decade now and has released several albums which have allowed him to tour the world. He also owns Motif Records which has had artists like Riky Rick and Reason under it.


#9 - Jack Parrow


 Jack Parrow is one of the most stand out rappers we have in the music industry and has since grown to have a huge following overseas that has enabled him to have several sold out tours in Europe.


#8 - Da Les



 Da LES has been in the game since the mid 2000’s with Jozi. The rapper also won R1 000 000 rands when he won the Tropica Island a couple years ago and has been touring and releasing music consistently since then. 

#7 - HHP


The Hip Hop Pantsula has been in the game for a long time now and was the most prominent rapstar in the country for a several of seasons straight.



#6 - JR














JR has been making hits since he got onto the scene around the late 2000’s and also won R1 000 000 when he won the the Tropica Island. The rapper also has successful business’s outside of the music industry.


#5 - K.O













Mr Cashtime is another rapper that came into the game about a decade ago with Teargas and has managed to start a successful solo career plus is also part owner of the Cashtime Life label which has artists like Nomoozie, KiD X and more.


#4 - Khuli Chana
















Khuli Chana has been in the game for over 10 years now and has been a prominent brand for a long time. The rapper was also involved in an incident with the police when they confused him with someone else and opened fire on the rapper, the rapper is said to have made off  with a  R2.5 million settlement. Khuli also has some prominent business’s outside of the music industry .



#3 - AKA





















AKA has been in the game since he was a teenager but only started making real money off his music when he became AKA which was in 2011 after he released his debut album Alter Ego. AKA has since become the Supa Mega and a continental superstar. The rapper has had a number of endorsement deals and is said to be worth 4.8 Million rands.



#2 - Cassper Nyovest






















Cassper Nyovest is one rapper who came into the game and made a huge impact in such a short space of time. In 2015 Cassper signed the biggest deal the music industry has ever seen with MTN. The rapper is also an independent artist who has toured the continent plus shows in England. Cassper has made a fortune off endorsement deals. He is said to be worth around  R3.2 Million.


#1 - Die Antwoord


















The South African rap-rave group has been making money off their music for a while now. The group has been releasing music since 09 which has enabled them to headline a lot of international tours in Europe and on different parts of the world. The group is said to have a networth of R56 million  and a yearly revenue of 8 Million.
